Täna oli meil jah puht juhuslikult natukene teistsugune perepäev, kui nii öelda võib. Nimelt käisime me Kardo ja Mariga Hageri hooldekodus kooki küpsetamas. Alguses pidime Kerliga koos minema, aga ta jäi eile öösel kahjuks haigeks ja seetõttu tuli hoopis oma pere kompanjoon kaasa.
Kes mäletab, siis ma sain koostöö raames VÄGA palju kondenspiima ja kuna ma selle kogusega midagi teha ei osanud, siis tuligi mõte vanakestega koos küpsetada. Hageris olid nad mõttele vägagi avatud ja nõnda me täna sinna läksime. Ühes käes hunnik kondenspiimasid ja teises HeyDay mahlad, mis samuti neile kingituseks olid.
Päris huvitav ettevõtmine oli – kohapeal elab umbes 90 inimest, aga küpsetama tulid muidugi ainult need, kes viitsisid ja tahtsid. Minu meelest oli päris palju huvilisi, kellega koos kokkasime.

Tegin vahepeal pilte ka ja lubasin elanikele, et tulen uuel nädalal tagasi, sedapuhku nendega pühademune värvima. Veel lubasin ma uuel nädalal kaasa võtta kõik täna klõpsitud pildid – et neil ka ikka endast mõni värskem foto oleks. Ma siia kõiki ei hakka üles riputama, aga mõnda pilti näitan ikka. Selle jaoks on neilt luba loomulikult kenasti küsitud.
Näitasin tehtud pilti prouale, mille peale ta naeris, et 95 aasta kohta ikka veel päris kabe! On, eksju! :D

Ma pean tunnistama, et ma alguses natukene pelgasin küll minna, et noh, äkki need jutud peavadki paika, et sellised kohad on räämas ja õnnetud. Ma muidugi teiste kohta öelda ei tea, aga Hageris oli küll kõik ilusasti puhas ja vägagi ilus. Ei haisenud seal kuskil ja töötajad olid väga sõbralikud. Jutustasid ja aitasid seal elanikke, kellel abi vaja oli. Elanikud ise ka kiitsid, et kodus üksi oli nii igav, et seal lausa elu kihab. Noh, nii võib öelda küll, sest täna tegime kooki, siis täna õhtul esineb seal kandlemängija. Homme hakkavad savist meisterdama ja ülehomme samu kujusid värvima. Ja uuel nädalal siis munade värvimine. Üks proua naeris seal, et varsti koolitavad neist veel vanas eas kunstnikud välja ja puha.
Üks proua oli seal eriti sõbralik, tahtis kogu aeg kallistada ja juttu puhuda ja ühel hetkel kutsus Mari enda tuppa “komme otsima”.

Ma ausalt hea meelega lähen uuesti sinna tsillima, sest näha oli, et nad tahavad ka midagi oodata ja midagi teha. Muidugi juttu puhuda on ka tore, ma kujutan ette, et neil kõigil on nii palju ägedaid lugusid rääkida! Suur aitäh Polven Foods’ile kondenspiimade eest ja HeyDayle mahlade eest. Need maitsesid elanikele ja töötajatele väga :) Ma käisin just poes ära ja ostsin täiega palju erinevaid munade värvimise vidinaid, et neil järgmine nädal kõigil huvitav oleks! Oh, oleks mul nüüd juba load :D!

Today we happen to have a very different Family Day, if you can call it that. Me, Kardo and Mari went to Hageri retirement home to bake cake. Kerli was supposed to go with me, but she, unfortunately, got sick last night, so I took my family instead.
If you remember I got A LOT of condensed milk as part of a sponsorship and since I didn’t know what to do with that much I decided to go bake with the oldies. Hageri was on board with our idea and so we went there today. In one hand we had the condensed milk in the other HeyDay juices that we brought them as gifts.
It was quite an interesting event. There are 90 people living there, but only the ones who wanted or were bothered came to bake with us. I thought it was quite many people to bake with.
I also took some pictures and promised the residents I would be back next week, to color Easter eggs with them. I also promised I would take all the pictures I took today with me, so they would have a few newer pictures of themselves. I won’t upload all of them here, but show you just a selection. I have, of course, asked permission to do so.
I have to admit, I was a little scared to go, because of all the horror stories about how sad and dingy these places are. I can’t speak for other places, but Hageri was very nice and clean and beautiful. Nothing smelled and the employees were all very friendly. They chatted and helped anyone who needed it. The residents themselves said that they were so bored at home, but it’s so lively there. Well, you can say that, because today we baked cakes and tonight they are going to have a Estonian zither player. Tomorrow they are going to make figurines our of clay and the day after they are going to paint them. And then next week we are going over to decorate Easter eggs. One lady was laughing that they are being trained to be artists in their old age.
One lady was very friendly, wanted to hug and talk all the time and then invited Mari to her room to “search for candy”
I am honestly going back to hang out with pleasure, because you could tell they want something to look forward to and something to do. Of course the chats are cool too, I can imagine they all have great stories to tell! A Big Thanks to Polven Foods for the condensed milk and to HeyDay for the juices. The residents and employees loved them :) I just got back from the store and bought all kinds of cool Easter egg decorating stuff, so we would have dun next week. Oh, I just wish I already had my license :D!
